Passion for wood and colour: uncompromising climate protection
Our contribution to the climate city agreement in Münster
A balanced handling of nature's resources has been the focus of business activities of Osmo Holz und Color GmbH & Co. KG from the very beginning. The concept of sustainability is firmly anchored in the company's own corporate philosophy - sustainable production methods and climate protection measures are already an integral part of everyday work processes. It is therefore not surprising that Osmo, known for its high-quality coating systems and wood products, will be one of the most sustainable industrial companies in Münster in the future.
For example, solely electric forklifts are already used in production and warehouses in Münster to improve the carbon balance, and air compressors have also been replaced to utilise waste heat in the heating system. With the construction of a new, self-sufficient coating plant, Osmo is planning another significant step towards environmental friendliness. This plant will not only be designed to be energy-efficient, but will also rely on renewable energies in order to further minimise the ecological footprint of production and make a significant contribution to climate protection.
Osmo’s headquarters and wood production facilities are located in Warendorf. Only certified wood is processed in the planing mill there. By using sustainable wood, the company, which has met the high standards of the FSC® and PEFC systems since 2005 and offers products with the corresponding seals, actively contributes to carbon storage. These and other measures are part of Osmo's commitment to maximising the ecological benefits of wood in combination with high-quality coatings. The combination of long-lasting coating systems based on natural oils and waxes and high-quality wood not only extends product life, but also improves the impact on the environment.
Both sites are certified in accordance with DIN EN ISO 14001 (environmental management system) and DIN EN ISO 50001 (energy management system). As part of the sustainability management system currently being implemented, Osmo will in future calculate and analyse carbon balances (in accordance with GHG Protocol), raw material balances and waste balances. The aim is to continuously reduce these values in order to achieve complete climate neutrality by 2045. This comprehensive management system and consistent investment in future-oriented solutions will enable the company to take proactive measures to reduce its environmental impact and maximise its own contribution to climate protection.
Osmo stands for a green future in which sustainable action and healthy living go hand in hand. By combining innovative production techniques, sustainable material procurement, transparent communication and effective balancing, the company is making an important contribution to climate protection. With the clear goal of climate neutrality by 2045, Osmo is positioning itself not only as pioneers in coatings, but also as a responsible player in global environmental protection in order to fulfil its responsibility towards the environment and society.
